The FPSO is a key part of the major integrated GTA development that also includes subsea development of gas fields and near-shore floating LNG (FLNG) facilities.

The project which will have a capacity of over 2.3 million tonnes of LNG will be the third FLNG project in Africa to come on onstream following existing operational FLNG projects in Cameroon and Mozambique. BP will have the entire offtake from the project for 20 years.

Golar’s Gimi FLNG which serves as the floating LNG vessel for the project is currently under conversion and construction at the Keppel shipyard in Singapore.

According to Golar, the Gimi FLNG vessel is 90% complete and is currently expected to sail for the coasts of Mauritania and Senegal in the first half of this year.
