Current state of the Russian gas market and export options

This article provides an overview of the current situation in the Russian gas sector, looking at the supply–demand balance for natural gas and some key features of the sector’s organization. It also examines the main opportunities for pipeline and LNG exports. While Russia is rebalancing its East–West gas supply, the planned pipelines will not fully compensate for export losses in the European direction. The LNG sec-tor has significant potential, but only if technological self-sufficiency is achieved.
