Global LNG demand to increase by 50% by 2040

Global LNG demand is expected to increase by 50% to 625m-685m tons per year. This is a slight decrease from the 700m tons/year previously forecast by Shell. The company expects a supply gap to emerge in the 2030’s. The analysis seems to suggest that natural gas demand has already or is peaking in markets such as Japan and Europe but that growth can be expected in China and South Asia.
