The month of March 2024 saw global LNG imports hit 35.3 Mt, up by 2.6% year-on-year. Once again, Asia Pacific was responsible for much of this growth: March 2024 witnessed a significant 12% year-on-year increase in LNG imports in the Asia Pacific, reaching 24.37 Mt, driven by higher gas consumption and lower spot LNG prices. European LNG imports fell by 20% year-on-year in March 2024 to 9.14 Mt due to lower gas consumption, ample storage, and increased pipeline imports. March 2024 saw global LNG exports expand by 2.3% year-on-year to 36.31 Mt, a record high for March. Source: GECF
