During the first 9 months of 2023, the world imported 295 million tons of LNG, a little over 1% increase year-on-year according to preliminary estimates . While Japan imported 48.91 million tons of LNG during the period (down 12% year-on-year), China, imported 51,13 million tons up 10% year-on-year regaining the top LNG importer position. However, the volume was still 12% less than the same period of 2021 . The European Union and the United Kingdom, imported in 81 million tons of energy in the nine months of 2023, increasing by 1% from the same period in 2022.
