The spot or front month contract for LNG changed to February on December 16 and consensus was that LNG prices had peaked. Well that didn’t happen. North Asian spot LNG prices rose to a six-year high on December 28, while the market continued to focus on bare naked inventory levels in Japan. The S&P Global Platts JKM for February was assess at 70.3 cents/ MMBtu higher day on day at $12.514/MMBtu.
