It’s that time of year for the 2022 review charts – this one may be a little obvious but still very striking.
France and Spain have knocked Taiwan and India out of the top 4 LNG importers this year on Europe’s rising demand, and with Indian consumption in part reduced by high spot LNG prices.
Complete reversal from previous years where Europe imported much less LNG and China sucked in more and more.
Europe’s LNG imports in December are on course to reach a new record high, well above 11m tonnes for the first time.
But is the biggest question for 2023 how much LNG will China buy?
